It has a really unique vibe and offers a long list of things to do for the entire family. Whether you’re a couple, a family, or retired, there is a place for you in Palm Springs!
We recently checked out Palm Springs for the first time on a long road trip we took and loved it! I wanted to share some of our favorite places to stay in the area as well as some other great options nearby.

Best RV Parks in Palm Springs
Palm Spring is super RV-friendly! The weather is great year-round and there are so many outdoor activities. There were many RV parks that we had to choose from. We ended up staying at Thousand Trails Palm Springs RV Resort. Every RV spot was lined with huge palm trees which meant there were palm trees as far as the eye could see!
We found Palm Springs RV Resort to be full of many friendly RVers. There were also plenty of full-time RV families as well, which was so fun. We loved the community that it offered, as well as the amenities. Walking around, we found a little playground, Pickle Ball Courts, a Recreation Center, a beautiful WARM pool with many lounge chairs, and lots of places to run around and play.
Our favorite part of the park was the pool area that they had. I typically avoid RV park & hotel pools, but this area was clean and the pool was heated and so comfortable. We packed the kids up and headed over to the pool for a morning of splashing around. It was a blast to be swimming in the winter!
Thousand Trails Parks in Palm Springs
We have really enjoyed using our Thousand Trails camping pass these past couple of months. It’s made a huge difference in the cost of our trips! There were actually quite a few Thousand Trails RV Parks in the greater Palm Springs area.
We plan to continue doing quite a bit of camping this year and the one-year camping pass with Thousand Trails is a great option for what we need at this time. Luxury RV Parks in Palm Springs
Looking for full hookups, spacious RV spots, to play a round of golf, or relax in a mineral spring hot tub? Palm Springs has so many RV Resorts that offer extra amenities to your stay. We often are looking for amenities for families, but there are many resorts that are geared towards people wanting a quiet and more relaxing visit.
Palm Springs is also a destination for staying during a music festival. RV parks like Shadow Hills RV Resort offer packages for guests staying during those events.
There are many resorts that are geared towards people 55 years and older like Caliente Springs Resort. If you’re wanting a more relaxing and luxurious stay, then you’re in the right spot.
Long Term RV Parks in Palm Springs CA
Wanting to camp where it’s warmer during the winter months? If you’re looking to avoid the snow, Palm Springs is a great sunny option to bring your RV and camp for months at a time. Long Term RV parking is available at many of the RV parks in Palm Springs. It’s fairly common to see! We saw lots of people staying at Palm Springs RV Resort for several months. I always recommend just giving the RV park a call to see what their rates and availability are for the time frame you’d like to be there. Usually, there is a separate rate for monthly stays at RV parks and it will often be cheaper than the daily rate.
Other RV Parks in Palm Springs
Depending on what you’d like to do while you’re visiting, you may want to stay closer to Joshua Tree National Park. We love KOA parks, they are clean, and have great amenities for families. KOA Palm Springs/Joshua Tree is an awesome place to camp close to all the things you’re wanting to explore! It is minutes from Palm Springs, and about 45 minutes away from Joshua Tree National Park. We absolutely loved being close to Joshua Tree. With little ones along, it made it much easier to make the journey out there and explore a couple of areas in the park.

Boondocking in Palm Springs
If you’re ready for an adventure and prefer to get on the beaten path, the Boondocking might be what you’re looking for! Sometimes we all need to disconnect and go off the grid, right? Palm Springs has MANY locations to boondock out in the desert.
If you’re not familiar with boondocking, it’s basically camping completely free of any hookups. That means no water, sewer, or electricity to hook up to. It’s also usually free camping, which is certainly appealing. I personally had never seen so many RV’s out boondocking before. It appears Palm Springs is the place to be to camp. As we explored, I saw more and more groups of RVs out off the highway just camping!
So, what is there to do in Palm Springs?
So, you made it to Palm Springs, and you’re staying at an awesome RV Park, now what? Palm Springs has a lot of great places to explore. We got to check out Joshua Tree National Park, Downtown Palm Springs and explored outlet malls and shopping. If someone in your family likes dinosaurs, you’ve gotta check out the world’s largest dinosaurs, at the Cabazon Dinosaurs!
There is also a really cool Areal Tramway that you can take up the mountain to get scenic views of Chino Canyon bringing you up the mountain to San Jacinto State Park. It’s a ten-minute ride displaying beautiful views of the valley.
