Best RV Travel Apps to find RV Spots

rv trip planner free

When it comes to planning a trip, you’re gonna need a place to stay! These RV Travel Apps are all about picking the best place to stay. It can be such a challenge when you’re visiting a new place and have no idea where to start. From staying at a resort, KOA, or even someone’s beautiful backyard, we’ve got you covered with these travel apps!

Campendium

This amazing app gives you so much information! This app is all about great locations to camp and they have everything listed from RV parks and resorts to National Parks. They even have a category for Free Camping spots to check out! They also have tons of reviews, which is so helpful.

RV Trip Wizzard

This app literally has it all! It is a paid app, however, it offers a lot of value. You can plan an entire trip based on your own rig’s size, so the routes will all be safe for your RV. You can also plan based on the camping memberships you have, meaning you can pull up specific RV park options based on your preference (Thousand Trails, Good Sam, KOA, State Parks, etc.). They also provide many points of interest along your route, so all your bases will be covered for a great trip.

Park Advisor

Another great app to find hidden RV Park jewels! We’ve found a couple of great places to stay using this app. It also provides reviews which I love to check out.

KOA

KOA’s are a typically solid place to stay if you’re not sure where to go. I’ve found that they offer lots of amenities for the family, and there is likely one on your route! If you’re not sure where to go, or you can’t find a place, KOA’s are a great place to start. One of our favorites is KOA Santa Cruz North/Costanoa. It was beautiful!

Hipcamp

Think Airbnb meets camping! This app has tent camping, RV camping, Glamping, lake camping, etc! If you’d like a unique experience camping in a treehouse, then check out this app. They even have locations listed for people’s land instead of an RV Park.

National Park Service App

Of course, the tried and true National Parks camping locations are another great place to camp! The NPS app provides information about the national parks, as well as booking camping spots in the parks. This app is a must!

Best Travel Apps for Weather Conditions

rv trip wizard

Weather is hugely important to take into consideration when planning an RV trip. If there are serious weather conditions, it could be unsafe for you to drive or stay in your RV. It’s always important to get an idea of the weather in the area you’re traveling to make sure it’s safe to stay in.

Windy

Understanding the wind speeds is important when traveling in an RV! High gusty wind speeds can be a problem, so if you’re aware of what’s coming you can avoid dangerous situations. This app does just that!

The Weather Channel

We use this website and app to check weather conditions! It’s solid and has accurate weather conditions posted all the time.

Accuweather

Another resource that we use to check the weather conditions in the area we’re traveling to. Accuweather is incredibly accurate and dependable, which is important for traveling in an RV!

Must-Have Navigation Travel Apps

Something really important to consider when planning and navigating a trip with your RV is that not every route is RV-safe.

Google Maps/Apple Maps

We all have a navigation app on our phones that is our go-to. We typically stick with the Google Maps app, as it’s pretty good for getting us from point A to point B.

Wayze

I love this app for busy cities, as it’s great to get you around traffic without adding too much time.

Copilot RV

Routes specific to RV sizes! Very important to make sure you’re not going to run into a situation where your rig won’t fit.

RV Dump Stations

Another part of #RVlife, dumping tanks! Not every campsite offers full hookups, of course. This app tells you where the nearest dump site is so you can empty your take before the drive.

iExit

Ever need to figure out where the closest gas station is on your route? Or are you looking for the cheapest price of gas coming up on the freeway ahead of you? iExit has all that information and more! From rest stops, gas stations, fast food, and more, they’ll let you know what is up ahead so you can find the cheapest gas or get your favorite meal without straying from your route.

RV Travel Apps to find the cheapest gas

Get Upside

This app is awesome! We’ve saved so much money on gas just by checking this app before filling up. We started by adding our credit card to the app. Get Upside gives the user a map of gas stations that are offering discounts. Just select the one you want to go to, pay with the card you’ve connected to your account and you’ll get money sent to your account that you can send straight to your bank! It’s pretty simple. If you sign up using our Referral Code- Alyssa229256, you’ll get an additional bonus added to your account when you sign up!

Open Roads

Open Roads is a discount fuel program available to anyone who purchases diesel fuel! It doesn’t matter if you drive a diesel pickup truck, RV, or semi-truck. Users are saving an average of .30 – .40 cents and it can be used at gas stations like Loves and Travel Centers of America. The app will show you locations where you can use your fuel card.

Gas Buddy

Another great gas card program that will help you save money at specific gas stations! The discounts really pile up if you can find a discount gas program that you like and stick with it.

Top RV Travel Apps to Find Food in a New City

So you did it! You are on the road or already set up in your camping spot at the RV Park. Now, what’s for dinner? We’re going beyond just Googling “food near me”. Check out some of these apps that will send you right to the best food in town.

Yelp

This one is probably my go-to anytime we’re somewhere new. I love to see what’s nearby our RV park, customers’ photos of their food as well as all reviews. It helps me figure out what is for dinner when we’re in a city that is completely new to me.

Roadtrippers

Roadtrippers makes its second appearance on our list! They offer lots of great stops that you can either purposefully add to your trip beforehand, or can also look at as you’re driving.

So many RV Travel App Options

We are really thankful that there are so many resources out there while we’re traveling to new places. It can be overwhelming to figure it all out on your own. Thankfully there are apps like these to help you figure out where to go, where to stay, and things to do along the way!
